For reader “Desperately Seeking Stardust”

I know it’s after Christmas, but just in case you’re still looking for it, I saw two copies of the new hardbound edition at Comic Quest in Megamall for PhP2000 per copy.

Also, check the comments here: (Click to view), where Charles and Randell also posted some promising leads.

I hope you got a copy!  :)

Photos from the Ad Congress

I’m back online, and that means, back to work as well!  (ugh!)  I hope everyone had a good Christmas.  :)   Did you get any gift fit for a Gaiman fan for Christmas?  Surprisingly (yes, really surprising, seriously!), I did!  My significant other gave me a Neverwhere BBC Mini-series DVD set.  Yay!  :D

Anyway, before the Ad Congress, I bugged Sam, who’s a friend from the local Harry Potter fan community, to take photos of Neil during the event.  She was only able to upload them now. Here are a couple of photos of Mr. Neil during his talk, Imagination and Creativity in the Contemporary World, and during the Q&A.

Photo credit: Sam Zetha. Thanks, Sam!

In case you missed it, Neil has uploaded a fabulous sneak peek at the Coraline movie! (click here for the preview).  It’s looking good!  The ghost kids look appropriately creepy.

Offline for the Holidays: Happy Christmas!

Today’s our company Christmas party, and the last day of work before Christmas for me (I’m taking a leave tomorrow).  That means I’ll be offline until after Christmas, so let me take this opportunity to greet the ten or so people who visit this blog (heheheh!) a Happy Christmas!

And if Google happens to cough up a link to this site again for Mr. Neil…  Happy Christmas to you too, Mr. Neil!  :)

To get everyone into the Christmas spirit, I’ll leave you guys with this old link to an audio file of Neil reading his 100-word poem, “Nicholas Was…”

(older than sin, and his beard could grow no whiter…)

Be good, and don’t give Santa a hard time.  ;)

“Fragile Things” Paperback On Sale and a request

I think the bookstores need to start paying me for the advertising!  Hahaha!  :p

Anyways, the Fragile Things paperback edition is on sale (20% off, if I’m not mistaken) at National Bookstore branches.

There are still a lot of copies at the Glorietta branch if you’re interested.  :)

A certain reader (I won’t mention the person’s name because it might spoil a surprise) e-mailed me and asked where there are available copies of the Stardust illustrated edition.   I haven’t seen any in the stores I’ve been to lately, but if you’ve seen any in stores around Metro Manila, please please post a comment for our fellow Gaiman fan who has been looking for the book and has been unsuccessful.  :)

“Adopting a Nation”

I keep forgetting to post this…. @_@

It’s not uncommon for influential people to serve as mentors: a teacher might nurture a particular student, an entrepreneur scout for a promising employee. But what I find peculiar in the case of Neil Gaiman is that he took an entire country under his wing.

… wrote Charles Tan in his essay, “Adopting a Nation“.

Read the essay here (click click!).

In Stock: Hardcover “Good Omens”

Powerbooks has re-stocked their inventory of Gaiman books, and they now have hardcover editions of Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, selling for only PhP459. Yup, that’s what they said, PhP459. :)

Makes for a nice Christmas gift and a good introduction for someone who wants to get into Neil’s works. ;)

ANC Features Neil and Awards Winners

ANC featured Neil Gaiman and three of the winners of the recently-concluded 2nd Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards.

Watch it here:  Link to YouTube Video

Thanks again, Charles!  :)

“Gently As She Goes” Lyrics

…lips, ripe as the berries in June
Red the rose, red the rose
Skin, pale as the light of the moon
Gently as she goes
Eyes, blue as the sea and the sky
Water flows, water flows
Heart, burning like fire in the night
Gently as she goes…

I also found a link to a site where you can listen to the track (but not download it) here:  click click!

New Thoughts on “Beowulf” posted

I’ve posted Rocky Sunico’s thoughts on “Beowulf” , and it’s now also listed in the Reviews page. Rocky runs a blog called The Geeky Guide to Nearly Everything where you can find… well, lots of good geeky stuff. :p He also contributes to the New Worlds Alliance website.

Thanks, Rocky!

Update:  I also posted Rocky’s reviews for Stardust and Interworld:)

“Beowulf Script Book” Signed Copies Available

Signed copies of the Beowulf Script Book are still available from the organizers of the recently concluded 20th Philippine Advertising Congress. It’s PhP700 per copy.  There are only 250 copies and they will only be available until December 15, 2007.
