Neil and Charles Vess on “Stardust”
In an undated interview (most likely from the recent ComicCon), Neil and Charles talk about the beginnings of Stardust:
That night I went out to a party held by a lady by the name of Terry Windling out in the desert. And in the Tucson desert, I got to watch a falling star. In England, they’re just sort of a streak of light across the sky. I discovered if you’re in the Tucson desert and you watch, it’s like this little diamond coming down. You go, ‘My God, that was….,’ just watching it. I thought, ‘What if you went to get that falling star?’ And then I thought, ‘And what if it wasn’t a star, it was a girl. And what if she had a broken leg and a foul-temper and had no desire to be dragged halfway across the world and presented to anybody’s would-be fiancée?’ Suddenly, there was the story.
They also shared their thoughts about the film adaptation, and how they each influenced the film.

Speaking of Stardust, I was very apprehensive before seeing it, even preparing to be very disappointed in the film. I was pleasantly surprised to find, though, that Matthew Vaughn did a very good job in making it a great film in its own right. You don’t need to have read the book to appreciate it, and I’m hoping people will actually want to read the book or the graphic novel after watching it. The film wasn’t perfect, but it was magical and funny and totally enjoyable. Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert de Niro totally rock.
I’m watching it again tonight, so I won’t say much for now. Maybe I’ll write more about my thoughts on the film tomorrow.

Charles wrote to alert us that the paperback edition of Fragile Things is in stores now. The regular price is PhP575, but Chiqui was able to get it on sale at Fully Booked at around PhP300 thereabouts.
Happy hunting!
Thanks, Charles!
Adapting “Good Omens”
Empire Magazine has an article about making the film adaptation of “Good Omens”:
You Can Make Good Omens!
Gaiman and Gilliam need your dollars…How much do you like Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and Terry Gilliam? About £35 worth of like we hope, because that’s how much it’s going to take a million of you to cough up in order to get a Good Omens adaptation on screen.

Seeing “Stardust” tonight!
I’m seeing “Stardust” tonight (courtesy of a friend from Crossover). Yay! =)
There was an advance screening in most theaters last week that I missed, unfortunately, so I’m making up for it by watching tonight and tomorrow. =D Thanks to my generous friends, Mark and Nick! =)

Charles sent in a link to a “Wolves in the Walls” stage play review from Ellen Datlow (click click!). And he also informs us that “Absolute Sandman Volume 2″ should start apparating in local comics shops and bookstores sometime this week. (Wish I had the moolah for this, but Convention time is drawing near, and there are a lot of stuff to budget for *sigh*).
Thanks, Charles!
