“Elmer” praised by Neil

Legendary Filipino comics artist Gerry Alanguilan got a surprise in his mailbox recently in the form of a handwritten postcard from Neil Gaiman himself. Neil praised Gerry’s work on “Elmer“, a locally-published comics series about “an alternate Earth where chickens have suddenly acquired the intelligence and consciousness of humans”.

I also personally found “Elmer” to be a really cool story with a unique perspective, and it’s accompanied by Gerry’s wonderful, highly detailed art to boot. It’s definitely worth following. :)

Support Filipino artists and Filipino comics! :) “Elmer” is available at Comics Odyssey (Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Place), Comicquest (SM Megamall, Festival Mall), Druid’s Keep (Gateway Mall in Magallanes), and Skybucks (SM Fairview).

Yet another “Ultimate Sandman” sighting

Bibliarch has copies of “Absolute Sandman” available for PhP4499. Still more expensive than the PhP3499 I saw before, but waaaaay cheaper than buying at Filbar’s. =p  Bibliarch is at the ground floor of Glorietta 3 at Ayala Center, across from Music One (formerly Tower Records).

Because he asked so nicely…

Neil recently wrote about him being one of the subjects of Penn Radio’s National Gorilla Suit Day episode with Penn Jillette, the other half of the legendary comedy duo, Penn and Teller. That specific episode may be downloaded here.

Edited to add:  I listened to this episode and it was hilarious!  Wonder what Neil will do if he were in a gorilla suit….
